The History

In 1993, Apostolic Truth Church purchased a parcel of land located on French Rd. ATC's founding pastor, Michael J Schmalz, was privileged to name the new road adjacent to the property - Glory Lane. After approximately 3 decades, our ATC congregation is ready to transform the acreage into a beautiful campus that will be complementary to the attractive neighborhoods in the surrounding area.

We've designed our new church home with our new neighbors in mind. Of course, we'd love for anyone in the area looking for a new church home to check us out. Regardless of your church affiliation, we will have designed spaces throughout the building which will be available for all of our neighbors.

Construction updates

April Construction Update: 6 Months to Go!

Can you believe it? We’re officially 9 months into our 15-month build, which means we’re in the home stretch—just 6 months left until we move into our brand new church facility! The excitement is building, and so is the building itself.

Here’s What’s Happening on Site

From the outside in, it’s clear—we’ve passed the halfway point, and progress is happening fast!

  • Steel, stone, drywall, and MEPs (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sprinkler systems) are all in full swing.
  • The admin wing now features beautiful stonework, giving a clear shape and definition to the building’s right side.
  • On the left side, you’ll see more stone going up near the youth center, giving both sides of the front of the building a balanced and finished look.
  • Over at the education wing, we’ve added commercial-grade steel siding with a warm wood-like appearance—it’s modern, durable, and stunning!

Oh, and if you’ve noticed that the building sign disappeared, no worries! It got blown over by strong winds, so we took it down and will replace it with something clean and simple soon.

Inside the Building

There’s so much happening beneath the roof:

  • Five staircases are in place—four of them are open-style staircases with custom railings. These are site-welded and poured with concrete, and they’ll eventually be finished with carpet or tile. They’re both functional and architecturally striking.
  • Drywall is going up throughout the education wing! You’ll notice two colors of drywall—blue and white. The blue is high-impact (perfect for kids’ spaces!), while the white covers higher, lower-impact areas.
  • From the Kids Worship Center, you can see the open staircase that will connect directly to the second-level training rooms—a beautiful flow for future ministry!

And just in case you haven’t been following closely, you’ll be blown away by the progress when comparing photos from last month to this month. This project is moving fast!

Project Highlights for April

Here’s what’s on the schedule this month:

✅ 4 of 5 Staircases are Installed
✅ Final Roof Section over Lobby scheduled for April 14
✅ Electrical / Plumbing / HVAC / Sprinklers underway
✅ Drywall Installation and Finishing
✅ Interior Painting begins
✅ Exterior Finishes
✅ Final Interior Walls going up

How You Can Help: Volunteer Projects

We’re entering a phase where volunteers are more needed than ever! Here are some ways you can jump in and make a difference:

  • 🎨 Painting – Starting this month! We'll be painting classrooms, hallways, and corridors. Every brushstroke counts!
  • 🍲 Hospitality – Help keep our workers fueled by preparing meals and snacks.
  • 🧵 Low Voltage Data Wiring – We’ll be pulling wires throughout the building. If you’ve got experience (or want to learn), we’d love your help.
  • 🛠️ Installing Appliances & Signage – Help us with the finishing touches as installations begin.
  • 🧰 Misc. Projects – There’s always a list of small but important tasks where we could use an extra hand.
  • 🌿 Landscaping – Coming soon! Get ready to help make the outside look just as beautiful as the inside.

This building isn’t just about construction—it’s about preparing a place for life-changing ministry. From children’s classes to worship spaces, every square foot will be used to serve people and glorify God.

If you haven’t driven by the site lately, now’s the time to do it. We’re not just watching walls go up—we’re watching vision come to life.

February 4:
Exciting Progress at the New ATC Church Building: A Construction Update

Big things are happening at the new ATC church facility, and we’re thrilled to share an inside look at the latest developments!

HVAC, Framing & Infrastructure

The video kicks off at the platform, showcasing installed HVAC ductwork overhead—already reaching into the green room. The skeletal layout of light gauge steel walls is also in place, which will form the structure of critical rooms including the kitchen, hospitality room, offices, and more. Visible openings in the metal indicate where electrical and data conduits will soon run.

Nearby, stacks of door frames (not the doors themselves) are ready for installation—an exciting sign that we're moving into interior buildout stages.

Equipment Update

A special shoutout goes to Mike Schultz for providing the church with a 26-foot branded scissor lift, which will serve the church well even after construction—perfect for changing lightbulbs up to 32 feet high!

Mechanical & Plumbing Systems

In the mechanical/sprinkler room, water lines are already coming in, supporting the building’s 65,000+ square feet. This space also houses hot water heaters and baptistry heating equipment. Nearby, plumbing lines snake their way through ceilings and into the education wing, showing how infrastructure is coming together.

Kids & Youth Spaces

The rumpus room for toddlers is taking shape and will feature a full play structure, along with tables, blocks, and coloring books. Just down the hall, the game room impresses with its size—it will feature five 75” TVs, gaming systems, and a variety of interactive fun.

In the youth center, key elements are in place: a stage, a café, and a mezzanine lounge area. The room is designed to seat 100–150 students, not including additional seating in the mezzanine and café.

Worship & Classrooms

The kids’ worship center will accommodate up to 140 children, featuring its own stage, sound, lights, and projection systems. It’s expected to be a powerful space for ministry, prayer, and baptisms in Jesus’ name.

The corridors throughout the building are spacious and thoughtfully designed with architectural bump-outs that make the space feel open and welcoming.

In the 5-year-old classroom—the largest in the kids’ wing—you’ll find room for growth and creative ministry. The entire classroom wing is surrounded by additional rooms for all age groups, offering plenty of breakout spaces for ATC Kids programming.

Bright Spaces & Smart Design

One standout space is the two- and three-year-old classrooms, which are filled with natural light thanks to large windows. These rooms also include future sinks, cabinets, and shared bathrooms—each set of two rooms will share one bathroom with drop ceilings, while the classrooms themselves will feature painted open ceilings.

Admin Wing & Community Ministries

Finally, the admin wing is now fully poured and polished. It’s located on the second story and includes offices, a community room, and space for the storehouse ministry, ensuring that ATC will continue to serve the city in meaningful ways.

We’re Getting Closer!

Each step brings us closer to opening the doors of this incredible facility. From ministry spaces to playrooms and everything in between, the new building reflects our mission to serve all ages and grow our community.

Stay tuned—more exciting updates are coming soon!

October 30

Roof decking and joists are going up! They bolt them together on site since they're too big to truck in. This will take about another week and a half. In a couple weeks, the precast wall supports since the roof will hold it all together. The joists are put in about 6 per day. In the next month, the worship center will start to be constructed! Super exciting! For the full update on video from Sam, check out this video

October 15

All of the-precast concrete walls are up, and they're making small patches on them. The mezzanine is being prepped with the steel which will support it. The large poles you can see are there to stabilize the pre-cast concrete walls. Lots of the steel has been delivered, but deliveries will continue as it is manufactured as needed. The cold weather won't really affect anything right now since it's just concrete and steel. Check out the FULL video update HERE from Sam who goes into depth this week!

October 8

The walls are going up in such incredibly fast ways! It seems that every day we drive past the land, movement is happening in even bigger ways than we could have ever imagined. The box is coming together! To see lots of great footage from the past week, check out this video.

October 3 - Walls are going UP!

Woohoooooo!! Walls are going up! Check out some of the drone footage of the walls going up in this video!

September 26

City Wide Masonry is putting in the staircase that goes from back hallway (north side) up to second floor admin wing. The staircase is fire-rated exit so totally enclosed. Plumbers are doing the "deep work" for sewage system (water fountains, toilets, etc). Anchor plates are going in for the pre-cast walls (coming in next week!) For the full update with Sam talking through the week, check out this video

September 23-24

This video has some cool footage of the cement being sent to the footings which will solidify and be the base for our foundation. This video has some more cool drone footage from the week.

September 17

We had a OAC meeting this morning (Owner, Architect, Contractor) where we discussed the current plans, which are moving along nicely! We are AHEAD of schedule! How often do you see THAT happen with projects this size?! Our team walked through the construction site and talked through some of the current happenings. For a full update with all the details, check out this video! Some key takeaways:

Most of footings and foundations are in - just a little to do interior so far. Looking to wrap up footings/foundations in the next week, then we move to putting some walls up!

City Wide Masons are putting up the first floor shaft of the elevator this week, which will house the actual elevator. Also doubles as bearing walls for roof structure!

Interior foundation/footings are going in - gravel being put in and compacted (cool footage of this in above video).

Pre-cast walls are being delivered next week and will be going up SOON! These 32-36 foot walls will come on site and will be a HUGE part of making this building look like it's coming together!

Construction Video For Kids

If your kids like watching construction equipment, we have a more long-form video with some of our construction equipment all in one place. We'll do more videos of these in the future, but if your kids need a few minutes to chill out and watch something, they'll probably like this video!

September 13

Check out the footage from this week HERE.

Some key updates - all seed has been laid for the grass on the west side.

Footings have been dug and are being worked on for the foundation.

Compaction taking place in key areas, which you can see taking place in the video!

September 10

This past weekend, we had another large volunteer project on the west side of the property. The are of our land that isn't being built on right now will eventually have very nice grass on it and will look pristine! We had about a dozen people out there helping to plant grass and we expect to see some growth soon on it! The construction site is continuing to progress. Check out some drone footage from the previous week here

August 24

We had a major volunteer project happening on the land today. We had a couple dozen volunteers out on the land today working to pick up rocks, sticks, and other obstructions for beautifying the land. We'll be doing some major landscaping in the future so we wanted to clean up that space. On the corner of the lot we removed some brush and cleaned up the trees area so that it looks a lot cleaner! We had the privilege of speaking with a number of neighbors checking out the project, who are wonderful people! To see some footage from today's project, click here.

August 20

The parking lot is almost structurally complete!

Next week they will start digging the foundation and the footings.

OAC (owner, architect, contractor) meetings started this week and we will continue these meetings every other week. Everything so far is on schedule!

July 30

Our "on site" construction sites have started! To watch the full update, click here. We have stripped all the topsoil and stockpiled it on the corner of the property. Gravel has come in and the geogrid has been layed (which spreads the load and increases durability of parking lot). The parking lot has started to become visible. The soil has been great so far with no major issues. They've been turning soils over and drying it out and have great compaction. The exciting news is we will be moving from 120 parking spots at our current church to 450 in the new location. Woohoo! Click here to see some drone videos of the property happening this wee.:

July 10

The top soil has been removed and they are making preparations for more large construction equipment to come in. It was fascinating to see how this equipment took that top layer off. You can see footage of this happening by clicking here.

June 9

We had an amazing, historic day celebrating our groundbreaking for the building. To watch the full groundbreaking ceremony, click here.

our community

ATC plans to build a state-of-the-art church facility, where every age demographic, from infants to seniors, has been considered and will be provided space for worship and fellowship. Our new church home is intended to be used not only by our congregation but also by our neighbors and our community. Here are a few spaces designed with our community in mind:

1. The Atrium: Our Wi-Fi-outfitted atrium will be a place to grab a cup of coffee, sit in one of our comfortable spaces to read, study, catch up on work, or meet a friend or client.

2. The Community Room: We have a 1,100-square-foot room outfitted with counter space and a refrigerator perfect for a birthday party, graduation party, or community meeting.

3. The Indoor Child Play Area: Sometimes our kids need a place to play, especially in the winter. We will have designated hours for children to burn off some energy in a fabulous kid-friendly area.

4. The Cafe: We plan to have hours available throughout the week to grab a coffee or a latte!

Frequently Asked Questions

When will construction begin/be completed?

Onsite construction officially began July 30, 2024 and we hope to be completed by late fall of 2025.

Will there be traffic problems?

There will be a few times during the week (Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings) when there will be a higher volume of traffic flow in the area. Our current plan has entrances on Glory Lane and Ashbury Drive, closer to French Road. The two entrances will distribute the flow of traffic primarily to French Road and not through the adjoining neighborhoods. Traffic will be minimal for most of the week.

Will parking lot lights be problematic?

We intend to invest in a parking lot light system designed to minimize light spill. We will also incorporate landscape buffers as needed.

Where does the stormwater go?

All stormwater from our property flows to the south to the City of Appleton Holland Stormwater Pond either through a culvert at French Road and Glory Lane or through the Glory Lane Swale. No water flows through or is added to the stormwater systems in the adjoining neighborhoods.

Where do I address any other concerns?

We'd love to hear from you! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns during our construction phase, feel free to email construction@atchurch.org, or call our front office at (920) 738-7800.
